The National Center for Fire and Life Safety (NCFLS) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization serving nationally and abroad. Our mission is to reduce injury and loss of life, property and resources by developing and deploying non-traditional, innovative fire and life safety prevention training and education. Our work is through a collaborative effort of highly regarded local, state, and national organizations, emergency services professionals, and researchers recognized as some of the world's leading authorities in fire and life safety. Together we share a collective vision for 'a safer world'.

Why it matters

Accidents are now the third leading cause of death in the U.S. and the top cause of death for people 1-44 years of age! In 2016, America’s Fire and EMS personnel responded to 35,320,000 fire, medical and other types of emergency calls. 14,650 injuries were caused by fire while direct property loss was valued at $10.6 billion dollars. 3,390 civilians died by fire while 161,374 died from unintentional injuries. Annually, more than 44.5 million American’s receive medical consultation for preventable injuries at a cost of $967.9 billion dollars in direct costs. Our work will save lives in ways never imagined!
